Paperless
Office
At Officiency, Inc. one of our values is corporate social
and environmental responsibility. We strive to assist
clients to become more sustainable in how they do business.
One of the biggest impacts any office can have is to
become The Paperless Office.
The average American now consumers nearly 750 pounds of
paper each year, which is the highest paper consumption
in the world. According to the Environmental Paper Summit
in 2002, the pulp and paper industry is among the world’s
largest generators of air and water pollutants, waste
products, and the gases that cause climate change. It
is also one of the largest users of raw materials, including
fresh water, energy, and forest fibers. Paper is the
number one material that we throw away. For every 100
pounds of trash we throw away, 35 pounds is paper. Currently
only 50% of the paper manufactured is recycled. Every
year nearly 900,000,000 trees are cut down to provide
raw materials for American paper and pulp mills and over
202 billion gallons of water are used.
Step 1: Electronic File Organizing
In order to help businesses reduce paper, it is important
to have a well organized electronic records management
system on the company’s hard/share drive.
Learn more about how Officiency can re-organize
your company’s shared files with our Electronic
File Organizing services.
Step 2: Paper Reduction
Once your company has an organized system of managing
data, the Officiency consultant will help your team
develop a process to reduce the incoming paper.
We will work with each department on electronic
methods to receive the incoming paper and do our
best to provide simple and easy alternatives for
processing.
Step 3: Process Improvement
We will work with each department on streamlining
the internal paper-processes to become automated
and electronic. We will utilize your existing software
systems and recommend new systems, if needed.
